Photo Critique Service

It’s not very easy to find constructive feedback on your photos. Social media is notoriously filled with others offering small bits of praise on your photos leaving you with little understanding of what makes a good photo. All you’re left with is trial and error. Without high quality feedback, it can be difficult to progress as a photographer.

My photo critiquing service consists of a comprehensive review of your submitted photos where I offer professional and constructive feedback, both positive and negative. In order to give you the best feedback I can, I’ll only accept photos in the genres that I have the most experience in: nature, landscape, wildlife, and travel.

What is Included

I provide feedback on the following aspects of each photo:

  • Technical details: sharpness, exposure, composition, etc.

  • Mood, color, lighting

  • Caption and keywords (optional, for stock photos)

I’ll also do my own post-processing (e.g. exposure adjustments, cropping) if I feel it could improve the photo so that you can see another perspective. When appropriate, I’ll give you suggestions on the technical aspects of taking photos to achieve better results.

The critique is offered as a video screen recording that can be both streamed online or downloaded.

  • 5 images: $25

  • 10 images: $40

Photo Requirements

Make sure that your photos meet the following requirements:

  • The genre is nature, landscape, wildlife, or travel.

  • The photo’s metadata contains the following (if not, include this information in an email):

    • The camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO)

    • Captions and keywords (if you’re intended to submit the photo to a stock photo agency)

  • Full resolution, highest quality JPEG format. This is necessary so I can accurately assess the quality.

How it Works

  1. Send me a message requesting a critique.

  2. I’ll reply with a link to an online storage service where you can upload your photos. Or if you prefer, you can reply back to me with your photos attached in the email. If you’re intending to submit your photos to a stock photo agency, let me know that so I can also assess their suitability as stock photos.

  3. After receiving your photos, I’ll send you an invoice via Square that you can pay online.

  4. Within 3 days of receiving your photos and your payment during that time period, I will send you a link to a video of the critique that you can stream or download.

Example Critique

As an example of what a critique is like, I’ve critiqued one of my own photos in this video:
